The Mesa A Rail Project enables transportation of an additional 25 million tonnes per annum from Rio Tinto’s Mesa A mine to Cape Lambert port and involved the construction of a major bridge 165km South West of Karratha, over the
Robe River.
Steelpipe supplied 501 tonnes of piling to meet tight construction deadlines as well as strict QA requirements e.g. minimum yield of 390mpa for all piling as stipulated by the client,
John Holland.
Construction was interrupted by heavy rains and the bridge was tested by near cyclonic flood waters prior to completion. Steelpipe was able to further assist by arranging storage and scheduling delivery to the site as required.
The Project was completed on time and the Final Certificate of Completion was received with no defects raised. John Holland Project Manager, Colin Noid commented “This outstanding result is a testament to the efforts, standard of workmanship, commitment and resolve of everyone involved in this demanding project”
