The Southern Gateway Alliance’s construction of a four lane highway and infrastructure to link Perth to Bunbury to both ease the pressure of road use through the City of Mandurah and provide easy access to the South West, was an ideal opportunity for Steelpipe to provide expertise from the design phase through to delivery.
With two new bridges over the Serpentine and Murray rivers to be constructed, Steelpipe needed to supply 1000 tonnes of piling in lengths and specifications as required. Steelpipe’s early involvement with the contractor enabled design to be completed late in the programme so that the best size options could be utilised.
Steelpipe was able to ensure that the correct coil was always available so both the diameter and length could be finalised for last minute manufacture.
This co-operative environment built confidence and trust on all sides which made changes to schedules and deliveries as well as fabrication of additional items an easy process.
